BRIGHTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY
“My goal as an educator is that every afternoon, kids are chomping at the bit to come back tomorrow”.

Welcome to the Brighton Historical Society website.

Since our founding in 1963, we have been working to collect and preserve items and information connected to the history and heritage of Brighton, Victoria.

Located in the Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre (Old Town Hall), the BHS is home to an extensive and diverse collection, including photos, documents, maps, art, artefacts and a large costume collection of State significance.

The BHS is a member of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, the Bayside History Network, the South Metro History Group and the Australian Museums and Galleries Association, and has been appointed by the Public Record Office of Victoria as a Place of Deposit.

We’re open on Mondays and Thursdays between 12 midday and 4pm, and we welcome visitors to pop in and browse our displays, ask questions, conduct your own research.
