Let our knowledgeable volunteers take you on a stroll through Brighton's past in our 2022 walking tours.

 

Wednesday March 9 – Brighton Town Hall Heritage Precinct

Walk through the beautiful gardens to discover the stories behind the buildings in Brighton’s Civic Precinct, from St Cuthbert’s Church and the Town Hall to the Civic Centre and early homes in Boxshall Street.

When: Wednesday 9 March, 11am-12pm
Where: Meet outside the Brighton Town Hall, corner Wilson and Carpenter Streets

 

Wednesday April 27 – Store to Store, Church Street

Now the domain of fashion stores and restaurants, early Church Street presented quite a different front. Discover the colourful past of Church Street, including the 'bug house' Prince George Theatre and Macpherson's livery stables.

When: Wednesday 27 April, 11am-12pm (during the Australian Heritage Festival)
Where: Meet outside the Brighton Schoolhouse Cafe, corner Church and St Andrews Streets

 

Wednesday July 13 – Pub to Pub

From the former Khyats Hotel to the Marine Hotel, explore the role early hotels played in the growth of the township, discovering significant places along the way.

When: Wednesday 13 July, 11am-12pm
Where: Meet outside the Brighton Town Hall, corner Wilson and Carpenter Streets

 

Wednesday October 19 – Historic Houses of Church Street

We will explore some of the significant early homes of Church Street Hill, many dating back to the 1890s.

When: Wednesday 19 October, 11am-12pm (during Seniors Month)
Where: Meet outside Middle Brighton Station

 

Each small group walk will run for an hour and will be led by BHS volunteers. The cost for all walks is $10 per person.
