We regularly assist people with research on a wide range of subjects, including family histories, histories of buildings and businesses, heritage and planning issues, architecture, artistic projects and community interests. You are most welcome to come and explore our diverse collection on Monday and Thursday afternoons between 12 noon and 4 pm (other times may be arranged on request).

Research fees

There is a fee of $10 for people doing their own research in our rooms. BHS members may research for free.

We are able to compile house histories and undertake other research on request for a fee of $20 per hour. The cost of the work will depend on the complexity and the amount of research needed to meet your request. Feel free to contact us and tell us what you are looking for, and we can advise you on what may be required.

Photocopying is available for

• A4 - 20 cents per copy (50 cents for colour)
• A3 - 50 cents per copy ($1 for colour)
